Weaning Baby Birds Correctly Sets Them Up For A Lifetime of Success.
We get a lot of emails from customers asking for advice about weaning their baby birds. The people asking for this advice range from novices who bought their bird and were not told anything about weaning, to professionals who have weaned birds for years but realize they were not using proper practices that set the birds up for the best success.
It was due to all these requests that we decided to put together this PDF download that discusses what weaning is, what you should wean your birds onto, WHEN to wean your birds (this is important!), and what you should NOT do when weaning.
However, if you are a beginner and have no idea what weaning is but know that your bird is not on solid foods, PLEASE seek the help of someone nearby that can help you in person.
This can be a local rescue/sanctuary, a local vet's office, or a local breeder. The reason we say this is because weaning your bird incorrectly can be life-threatening.
We NEVER recommend a first time bird owner to get an un-weaned bird, but understand that people find themselves in this situation often. Please know that any reputable breeder, rescue, or store that you get a bird from will usually take a deposit from you and keep the bird until it is weaned if you need that service.
