Dave Womach here from BirdTricks.com. You’ve all been requesting to see more live training sessions – and although we have a hard time giving you just that due to living on a freakin’ cruise ship and having a 2 year old, we’ve managed to bring you an updated sample of what we’re currently working on.
We hit a lot of roadblocks in our recent training sessions that we hear about from you all the time, and had a lot of break through moments because of that. For example – Training multiple birds at once, transforming fear into a positive, what if my bird ______?…. additionally, we transcended beyond our roadblock with Cressi, as we tried getting her to fly through a hoop for the past year on stage. You’ll be surprised to discover that all it took was a second perspective and a couple training sessions (see that footage in this week’s video).

Our biggest win last week was getting our two Camelot macaws to fly on stage with moving lights, screaming audiences, and snow falling on stage at the end of our show on board the Norwegian Dawn.

As always, thanks for making another Birdtricks Tuesdays video. I enjoyed seeing clips from real training sessions and rehearsals. I was wondering how often you can take your birds outside while on a cruise ship? I understand that must be difficult if you don’t have your aviary.
Great video! I have taken on 3 rescue birds – 2 (a bonded pair) are not hand tame, and I am facing the daunting task of training them. It was interesting to see you training the 3 conures at once, I was wondering if this was possible or if I have to tackle them one at a time. Do any of your training videos address training multiple birds? I have learnt so much from you already, I am confident with time & patience I will be able to get my 3 little monsters in line!
Thanks for the comments! My 10 years old niece,Lexi finally got her first bird, a little green cheek conure. baby. She has had Pepe about 1 week, then had to leave for a week, so I am caring for the bird. I am working with both of them as much as possible. I’ve given Lexi your 1 day miracles, so she is fairly good at touch training already. Lexi is very fearful of being bit. I’ve done my best to help her understand that this is a baby bird who is going to go through that nippy phase. Now that I have the bird, I am working with her on stepping up using touch training. Since I’ve had the Pepe for only 24 hours, I have had no problems with nippiness at all, so I think Lexi doesn’t understand how to work with the bird as much as I thought she did. Do you have any other suggestions for things I can teach Pepe and also teach Lexi so that they have a good bond? Pepe loves to toss foot toys off the side of the cage, so I’m thinking a retrieve might be a good game also.
Hi I wondered if your ever going to visit England? I really have enjoyed watching your videos and to be honest I tried the touch training and failed in the past. I just watched your videos on the cruise and its motivated me to try again. I love the work your both doing and wanted to say I really enjoy watching and thank you for making the world a better place for parrots and the owners. sharon
I have a bare-eye cockatoo that I think might have been a breeder before I got her because she seems always in a nesting state. She dances with me and cuddles but she nibbles on me. She is like she a spot and must move it but Now I am thinking she makes her on spot. She is not vicious nor intend to hurt me it does. She leaves what could have been a shot spot with it just scabbing over. Honestly I have not done any training with her and have your programs that I am using to train my grey. I have not seen anything so far to help me. Thanks

Lovin this , just getting Charlie African grey , . Steppin up. ,16+ ,gives kisses ,n loves a cuddle ,had her 18 months but known her for 12+ years was left in back of a shop , but safe n happy now , thanks for all your help n education ,,love. Bird trick Tuesdays XXX
