Fostering a Blue Fronted Amazon Parrot

So, for 1.5 months I agreed to be a "foster home" to Storm (pictured above) who is a 35+ year old blue front Amazon parrot, sexed male.

The only history we know about Storm is that he was originally living in Florida when a hurricane hit and he got lost in it and separated from the family he was with. He remained within Florida and a family who was out camping heard a very clear, "Hello" from a tree above their heads. They looked up and said, "Hello..." and this cute little Amazon parrot climbed down and perched himself on their arm.

They took him home with them to travel the next 10 years with them around the country using their RV. Unfortunately, the couple was around 70 years old when Storm came to them and 10 years later they just couldn't continue to care for him... so, he ended up staying at a pet shop for an entire year with no luck of being sold to anyone.

One day a lady came in and he gladly stepped up on her. The manager came running out and begged her to take the Amazon as it hadn't taken to anyone in the year it was there. She agreed and has had the bird ever since! She took it to a vet and had it DNA tested as a male, the vet told her it was a Blue Front Amazon and was around 35 years old. This lady has had the bird for 10 years and it only likes her.

I'm very excited to keep you all updated with Storm's personal progress in the month and half he will be with us. If you'd like to hear about his progress, please read into his story over at www.BirdTricks.com/blog where I will update every so often on the progress Storm makes.
