Healthy Toppings For Your Parrot's Food

If you enjoy making food for your bird, there are some healthy toppings you can add to your bird's meals to make them more tasty and even more healthy as well.

At a lot of grocery stores you can buy bags of plain coconut, flax seed and unsalted nuts and seeds. It's great to get things like cinnamon, garlic and other spices for your bird's meals to add flavor and nutrition.

Personally, I keep plain coconut flakes and flax seed on hand all the time to add to my birds' meals, as well as canned spinach because it's easier to sneak into my parrot's meals because it's soft (although you know fresh is always better if your parrot will comply).

So next time you make your parrot some oatmeal, scrambled eggs (or egg whites for less fat), birdie bread or anything else you like to create... try adding cinnamon, coconut or flax seed into it as well for a little extra nutrition.

Thank you so much for this information. I’ve been doing this in my own oatmeal, with ground up raw nuts and it’s a great way for my African Grey and I to share a meal. I live in the wilderness and don’t feel comfortable having my baby (14 year old Congo) Outside so he is a happy, playful indoor Grey. This article is very validating and I look forward to reading more of them, and am excited to get your book! Many blessings, Amy
