Hotcakes for Parrots... Delicious!

Oh man do I love to spoil my birds rotten sometimes. After doing a bunch of PR one morning, the lady who took me to my appointments took me out to breakfast at Bob Evans. Boy was it yummy! I ordered blueberry hotcakes, and found them so perfect that I decided to get some for my birds as well. Funny thing is, they have never been served hot cakes before... or waffles, or pancakes or anything like that because I don't eat it that much, and if I was going to make it for them it would be whole wheat pancakes. But since someone else was making them, I figured... give it a try! So I ordered blueberry hot cakes with extra blueberries! My flock LOVES blueberries. When I brought it back to them (as seen in the video above) they all went straight for the plain oatmeal! Can you believe that? Oh well, they eventually tried the hotcakes... or so I thought... until I saw that all the blueberries were being picked out of them. At least I know my birds are healthy! They go for what they know - the healthier stuff - I could be more proud!   However, if you want to spoil your bird with some homemade hotcakes (and not Bob Evans ones...) then just try to make them a bit healthier by leaving out any butter, syrup or sugar and make the whole wheat kind. Add whatever you want, you can cook in diced spinach or make it fruity with pieces of fruit or whole berries. Anything to make it yummy, and a bit healthy as you can for being a treat food!
