Parrot Safe Alternatives to Scented Candles

All pets have the potential to stink up an otherwise nice smelling home, and smell is a pretty big deal to me. I love scented candles and cherish the times I go places without my pets so that I can use them. But they're not good to have or use around your parrots and so I decided to give you all some non-toxic alternatives that you can use that will make your home smell great and not harm your pet parrots.

You can pretty much boil anything in water for a great smell, here are some the things I use. I simply boil it on the stove top and let the scent go all throughout the house (use stainless steel pots)

  1. Cinnamon sticks
  2. Orange peels
  3. Tea bags (my favorite is apple cinnamon)
  4. Dried Vanilla Bean
  5. Apple
  6. Nutmeg
  7. Lavendar
  8. Rosemary

Thank you for this info! Would essential oils in a diffuser be ok since it’s all natural? What about candles that claim to be all natural soy/essential oils? I, too, have missed my candle burning since my Green Cheek Conure arrived almost a year ago. 😊

Not to mention the addition of humidity to the air. In my cold climate it is very hard to keep the household humidity at the 50% my vet has recommended.
