Summer Time Fruits For Parrots

Photo by Jamieleigh Location: Coney Island, NY Fruits from a local market

Summer time is one of my favorite seasons because I loveeeeee to eat fresh fruit myself. I also love buying it and serving it to my flock. On super hot days, it's great to give your bird fruits because they can get the juice and water from the fruits to help keep them cool and hydrated throughout the hot summer day.

I've come outside to my aviaries to find my birds have gone through all their water before I noticed to refill it, but they weren't thirsty when I put more in because they were able to get the hydration through the fruit I served all day.

It's a great trick for that kind of stuff! Melons especially hold the water well, and anything juicy like berries will provide enough to quench your bird's thirst long enough til you can get more water to them.
